Serenal

SERENAL is a collaborative film music piece composed with Maeve Cawley and Daniele Martella for string ensemble, acoustic guitar and electronics, as part of an Innovative Learning Week composition course at the University of Edinburgh. The piece was inspired by the work of Norman McLaren, in particular his short film ‘Serenal’. It features an electronic track created using Google Translate recordings and was composed in an open interpretative style (in three hours) where the performers are asked to choose from a selection of pitches and interpret small musical diagrams.
